  Destinys Child stared in Houston, Texas; Matthew Knowles started the group Destinys Child in 1990. In Houston, Texas where 8-year-old Beyonce Knowles and LaTavia Roberson met while auditioning for a local childrens group. Soon the Knowles, Roberson, and Knowles, Kelly Rowland, spending their afternoons studying videotapes of the Supremes and The Jackson 5, try to mimic the Motown groups choreography. Destinys Child had honed itself into a finely tuned, confident vocal act. LaToya and Beyonce where in Destinys Child since 1990, Kelly joined in 1992, and LaTavia closed it up in 1993. Just to let you now Beyonce has been there since 1990, Kelly has been there since 1992, and this is Michelles 2nd year this year. Destinys Child old members, LaToya Luckett, LaTavia Roberson, Farrreh Jackson are doing great things now, and Destinys Child wishes them a lot of love. The Writings On The Wall, has sold more than9 million copies worldwide. Destinys Child won the favorite Band, Duo or Group (Soul/ Rhythm and Blues Music) award at the 28th Annual American Music Awards, announced January 8, 2001, at the Shire Auditorium in Los Angeles. The trio has been nominated as Favorite Singing Group in the 14th edition of the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. Destinys Child has been nominated in five categories more than any other of this years nominees at the 7th Annual Blockbuster Entertainment Award: Favorite Group of the year; Favorite Group, Rand B; Favorite Group, Pop; Favorite Single (for Say My Name) and Favorite Song from a Movie ( Independent Woman Part I from Charlies Angels Music From the Motion Pictures.) On February 21,2001, Destinys Child took home two Grammy Awards: Best Rand B Performance By A duo or Group (Say My Name). Independent Woman Part I Destinys Child became the first American all female group ever to debut at the # 1 on the U.K charts.
